So today, i decided to take the plunge and invest in a teeth whitening kit which is designed to whiten teeth and remove teeth stains. As i mention in the video, my friend applied it to his teeth a few years ago with impressive results. But due to fear and anxiety, i decided not to invest in the home treatment… until now!
Be sure to check back in the coming days to see my progress…
Until then, enjoy the video!

In yesterday’s blog, i created a video talking about my decision to invest in a teeth whitening product. As i mentioned in the video, a friend of mine had invested in it himself about a year ago and having seen his results for myself. I have to say that it indeed does work.
It seemed to have removed one particular tooth stain which he had that was noticeable. But you’re probably wondering, why it’s taken me this long to do it myself. Well in fairness, my biggest apprehension was that it would do more harm than good to your teeth.
But it wasn’t until i looked further into it when i realised that in actual fact, it doesn’t. I will go into detail as to why it doesn’t in future posts, but for now, i will go on to talk about the brand i will be using which will hopefully whiten my teeth, and in doing so, document the process from start to finish.
The brand i will be using is ‘Crest White Strips’ which is the most popular brand available for teeth whitening in the United States. At present, they are not available to buy in the UK so had to order them from an online resellers. It works by applying the strips on both the top and bottom areas of your mouth and to let it set for about 20 minutes before removing them. This is repeated each day for around 10 days.
It is mentioned that you start to see results within the 5th day. So hopefully if all goes to plan, i will plan to show the transformation of my teeth after the fifth video.
The idea of tooth stain removal for me at this point is simple, to simply follow the procedures that is mentioned in the product and to see if it works. I can confirm based on my observations however that home whitening does indeed work. And having seen it through a friend with my own eyes, and would recommend it to anyone wishing to whiten their teeth at home.
Here is an official ‘how to’ video that illustrates exactly how the Strips work:
When looking after teeth, many factors have to be considered when doing so. It is usually very fundamental, however so many people seem to forget the basics of cleaning teeth and to prevent teeth stains from ever occuring. The basics of dental care is pretty simple, and the best way to explain it is to break it down into different elements, which are as follows:
Habit – When you’re young, it is crucially important to get into the habit of brushing your teeth twice daily. Whilst this might seem obvious, many people seem to take this for granted. This can be even more difficult the older you become, and maybe coming from a background where you wasn’t exposed to cleaning teeth or if you wasn’t given the parental guidance to start doing so.
Details – In order to ensure you look after your teeth, you will first have to appreciate and value your teeth to begin with. Again, this seems obvious, but the surprising thing is, not many people take pride in their teeth. Some people smoke, others drink, others eat sweets or simply do not take the counter measure necessary to look after them. This is also very crucial in order to prevent getting teeth stains and to stop it completely before it even occurs.
Diet – it is so crucial to bare in mind how important it is to keep a healthy diet. Most people seem to assume that poor diet only affects your body weight, however this is not always the case. Think about fizzy drinks, Food with artificial colouring such as Curry, or food with lots of natural sugars and starch. Do not assume that not eating sweets alone will prevent the need to look after what you eat.
Floss and Rince – Brushing isn’t all there is to good dental care. invest time to floss in between teeth, and ensure you rinse with mouthwash as often as possible. This will prevent tartar, decay and stains.
Looking at these elements, it makes a lot of sense in writing, yet so many people take it for granted and don’t apply it in their daily lives. However, once you do, you will be able to take preventative measures to stop stains on your teeth from ever occuring.

- Diet Sodas Aren’t So Good for Teeth — Hand Coding – I haven’t had a full-sugar soda in several years, but I still enjoy a few diet sodas a week. And, I’ve occasionally heard, off-handedly, that diet sodas can cause tooth decay just as their full-sugar cousins can. For what it’s worth, …
So today, i receive my awaited Crest White strips through the post. Will it remove my teeth stains and slight yellow tints? Below is a video discussing my expectations and the my expected goals for the days following.
Enjoy!
It has become very evident that more and more people are becoming concerned with their teeth. So much so that in today’s news, it was announced that an Oral care manufacturer ‘Miradent ‘will be releasing a novel dental chewing gum.
Miradent is an australian market specializing in dental care and teeth maintenance. In my previous post, i spoke about basic ways to keep your teeth in check that is both straight forward and easy to apply. What makes this product so ideal is that you will now be able to remove teeth stains and whiten teeth whilst you’re on the go.
The chewing gum (being labelled as ‘Xylitol’) will contain peroxide that will slowly whiten your teeth which will remove teeth stains and will be the first of its kind to stimulate saliva which will prevent plaque build up.
We spoke briefly in my previous post about the idea that habits become engrained in our daily lives to a point where undoing what we’ve built becomes increasingly difficult. What this product essentially does is it combines our daily habit of chewing gum, with dental benefits which will allow you to keep good dental health whilst you’re doing your daily errands.
It is not yet confirmed wherther this product will be supplied outside of Australia, however if the product does prove itself to work, it looks highly likely.
Again, i cannot stress the importance of applying the fundamentals of looking after your teeth. And whilst the product itself looks promising, it should not be a replacement to your general daily dental care.
I’ll be keeping you all posted with some more dantal related news soon. in the mean time, be sure to take on board the advice given on this website and to ensure good dental care in order to prevent teeth stains and other related dental problems from occurring…

Here is third video which i recorded a day after but decided to post on the same day following my previous post. The video illustrates how the white strips are applied to the teeth. They have yet to remove any teeth stains but can feel a slight different in texture when brushing my tongue along my teeth.
Here’s the video:
One last note. Here’s a really good article which i found that explains why sodas are bad for your teeth and how it can be prevented:
- Diet Sodas Aren’t So Good for Teeth — Hand Coding – I haven’t had a full-sugar soda in several years, but I still enjoy a few diet sodas a week. And, I’ve occasionally heard, off-handedly, that diet sodas can cause tooth decay just as their full-sugar cousins can. For what it’s worth, …
In today’s article, i’m going to talk about what a tooth stain is and why it’s less of an issue today than it was a decade ago. Because of the way technology has advanced and the changes made in society, more and more people are becoming involved with their health and lifestyle. So as a result, they are taking great care and attention in many areas of their bodies, from their diet, to their teeth.
Dental practices and commercial companies have become aware of this, so as a result, they have released products to cater for the ever increasing demand made by the consumers in order to maintain their general well being which includes their dental health.
One of the main issues in previous times, were teeth stains and plaque build up due to smoking, eating acidic and sugary foods and lack of good quality tooth paste and mouth wash. During this period, it became a necessity to go for a dental checkup and to have your dentist clean your teeth professionally for you.
However, over the years as more and more advanced products have become available. The consumer has now been given access to products which were previously only available to prefessionals; Electric tooth brushes, home whitening kits and prescription only dental mouth wash. We are now able to maintain and look after our teeth to the point of preventing teeth stains from occurring.
A tooth stain is now less commonly seen as it used to be, but now shows that the general consumer is more and more conscious about their health than ever before. So why the change?
Society has evolved to a point now where general healthy living is a way of life. Fewer people are relying on junk food and are now focused on healthy dieting and maintenance. So as a result, this has forced the consumer to think about the state at which their health is and to then take the necessary measures in order to build and maintain good health, be it diet, health eating and good dental care. And this is a good thing for the Dentist.
My journey to teeth stain removal with crest white strips is going good so far. I have now started to see some improvement to the colourization of my teeth and have gotten some good feedback from friends and family. Be sure to check out the video below for further detailed info.
Enjoy…
Lastly, I’ve been noticing in a few forums that many people have been sceptical about whether home whitening treatments work. In my research, i found one forum that discussed this in detail. Be sure to check it out since it’s a very good read:
- Online Teeth Whitening Scams – Teeth Whitening Articles – The word “scam” is defined as: obtaining money by means of deception – and today you can find dozens of scams online – especially surrounding the field of over-the-counter teeth whitening. com (TWR) has just concluded an investigation into this marketplace and found that companies looking to make a fast buck often invent fake personalities, reviews and testimonials to convince you their product is the real deal and worth the inflated (or unreasonably discounted) price you’re paying. In the unregulated, international world of Internet business, it is very easy for illicit marketers to start a private label teeth whitening business – without having to prove they’ve met any standards for safety or effectiveness.
In todays blog, i wanted to talk about teeth whitening and how widespread it has become typically in the north american territories. Last year as i was out with friends, i met up with a friend of mine who just came back from the states after visiting his girlfriend. I noticed his teeth whiter than usual and bringing up the subject with him, He had said that teeth whitening systems are all the rage in america and that nearly everyone has perfectly white teeth and hardly any teeth stains.
I was intrigued how it was so popular over there and not over in the UK. While i investigated further, i noticed that there were loads of consumer whitening products available over there which are affordable and available for everyone to use. One such product was ‘Crest White Strips’. The best whitening systems to use in the UK were in the form of toothpastes which is not guaranteed to whiten teeth or as well as these American products do.
The process is simple. Each strip contains peroxide which when used over time, will bleach your teeth and make them pearly white. I was a little skeptical at first knowing that dye will be used to bleach your teeth.
Instantly, i thought of the following consequences… Sensitive teeth, weakening of the outer enamel and a higgher susceptibility of tooth decay over time. According to my friend, this was not the case since he had been using it for a few months now without any of the above problems whatsoever.
So are teeth whitening products safe to use? The answer is simple… The best way to know is to try it for yourself. I have yet to try it but from what i’ve seen based on the results of my friend is that it clearly does work and does show a significant difference in the colour of your teeth over time.
This is why teeth stains are less evident in the states as it is over in the UK where smoking causes excessive damage over time. However, i do feel that whitening your teeth will only form a shell in order to provide a temporary solve the condition of your teeth. The best way to deel with teeth stains is to firstly, ensure that you apply the methods i wrote about in my previous articles.
Whitening should not be a replacement for good dental hygiene, and as long as you ensure the practice of looking after your teeth. Whitening your teeth will serve as a good compliment to the general look and quality of your teeth.
Here’s a recommended link to a site which explains a new type of teeth whitening:
- photodynamic bleaching – useful in removing tooth stains – photodynamic bleaching is the new type of treatment proven to be successful in the removal of tough stains from teeth. stains caused by tetracycline are rigid making it very difficult to remove by laser or conventional treatment. …
Sorry for the slight error, i was on day 5 and not on day 6 when creating this video. in this segment, i answer to a request made by a viewer who asked if i can talk about my teeth in slight detail.
It’s given me a few good ideas on what to talk about in future video with regards to teeth stains, so watch this space.
