When looking after teeth, many factors have to be considered when doing so. It is usually very fundamental, however so many people seem to forget the basics of cleaning teeth and to prevent teeth stains from ever occuring. The basics of dental care is pretty simple, and the best way to explain it is to break it down into different elements, which are as follows:
Habit – When you’re young, it is crucially important to get into the habit of brushing your teeth twice daily. Whilst this might seem obvious, many people seem to take this for granted. This can be even more difficult the older you become, and maybe coming from a background where you wasn’t exposed to cleaning teeth or if you wasn’t given the parental guidance to start doing so.
Details – In order to ensure you look after your teeth, you will first have to appreciate and value your teeth to begin with. Again, this seems obvious, but the surprising thing is, not many people take pride in their teeth. Some people smoke, others drink, others eat sweets or simply do not take the counter measure necessary to look after them. This is also very crucial in order to prevent getting teeth stains and to stop it completely before it even occurs.
Diet – it is so crucial to bare in mind how important it is to keep a healthy diet. Most people seem to assume that poor diet only affects your body weight, however this is not always the case. Think about fizzy drinks, Food with artificial colouring such as Curry, or food with lots of natural sugars and starch. Do not assume that not eating sweets alone will prevent the need to look after what you eat.
Floss and Rince – Brushing isn’t all there is to good dental care. invest time to floss in between teeth, and ensure you rinse with mouthwash as often as possible. This will prevent tartar, decay and stains.
Looking at these elements, it makes a lot of sense in writing, yet so many people take it for granted and don’t apply it in their daily lives. However, once you do, you will be able to take preventative measures to stop stains on your teeth from ever occuring.

My journey to teeth stain removal and whitening – How to apply the white strips
Here is third video which i recorded a day after but decided to post on the same day following my previous post. The video illustrates how the white strips are applied to the teeth. They have yet to remove any teeth stains but can feel a slight different in texture when brushing my tongue along my teeth.

One last note. Here’s a really good article which i found that explains why sodas are bad for your teeth and how it can be prevented:

In todays blog, i wanted to talk about teeth whitening and how widespread it has become typically in the north american territories. Last year as i was out with friends, i met up with a friend of mine who just came back from the states after visiting his girlfriend. I noticed his teeth whiter than usual and bringing up the subject with him, He had said that teeth whitening systems are all the rage in america and that nearly everyone has perfectly white teeth and hardly any teeth stains.
I was intrigued how it was so popular over there and not over in the UK. While i investigated further, i noticed that there were loads of consumer whitening products available over there which are affordable and available for everyone to use. One such product was ‘Crest White Strips’. The best whitening systems to use in the UK were in the form of toothpastes which is not guaranteed to whiten teeth or as well as these American products do.
The process is simple. Each strip contains peroxide which when used over time, will bleach your teeth and make them pearly white. I was a little skeptical at first knowing that dye will be used to bleach your teeth.
Instantly, i thought of the following consequences… Sensitive teeth, weakening of the outer enamel and a higgher susceptibility of tooth decay over time. According to my friend, this was not the case since he had been using it for a few months now without any of the above problems whatsoever.
So are teeth whitening products safe to use? The answer is simple… The best way to know is to try it for yourself. I have yet to try it but from what i’ve seen based on the results of my friend is that it clearly does work and does show a significant difference in the colour of your teeth over time.
This is why teeth stains are less evident in the states as it is over in the UK where smoking causes excessive damage over time. However, i do feel that whitening your teeth will only form a shell in order to provide a temporary solve the condition of your teeth. The best way to deel with teeth stains is to firstly, ensure that you apply the methods i wrote about in my previous articles.
Whitening should not be a replacement for good dental hygiene, and as long as you ensure the practice of looking after your teeth. Whitening your teeth will serve as a good compliment to the general look and quality of your teeth.
Here’s a recommended link to a site which explains a new type of teeth whitening:

My journey to teeth stain removal and whitening – oops, i meant day 5! :)
Sorry for the slight error, i was on day 5 and not on day 6 when creating this video. in this segment, i answer to a request made by a viewer who asked if i can talk about my teeth in slight detail.
It’s given me a few good ideas on what to talk about in future video with regards to teeth stains, so watch this space.
Enjoy the video…
When i was in College, i was fortunate enough to have had braces for a few years which was admitedly very painful. Previous to having it done, my teeth were in very poor condition. I rarely brushed when i was a child and didn’t take great care in my initial teeth which resulted in teeth stains, plaque build up and cavities.
Then when i reaches the age of around 11, it was brought to my attention that if i were to maintain nice teeth, i will need to brush twice daily, which was what got me to maintain good dental care. However, it wasn’t until i started having braces when i began taking extra care to my teeth, especially when the day came where had them taken off.
The reason why this is the case is because the pain and investment that was put into straightening my teeth had resulted in giving even more attention than i used to prior to having them on. I brushed twice as per usual, but this time, i took great attention to how long i brushed, where i brushed and maintained the quality of my teeth and prevent any teeth stains from occurring.
This eventually resulted in a happy dentist and a better dental condition and less worry of actually damaging my teeth. I became less addicted to sugary sweets and drinks and maintained a balanced diet.
The lesson learned from this is as follows. If you want to take extra care of yourself, try and find a reason to invest in it in the first place. For me, this investment came after i invested in straightening my teeth.
This may not be the case for you, but you can try and combine your decision to keep a healthy diet with your teeth in that eating wrong foods may damage your health and in turn, your teeth which will constantly remind you of whether your diet is correct and vice versa.
This is one example which will help refocus your time and energy on a particular area of your body which will force you to take extra care towards it. But the fact is, it works and causes you to create new habits of care and attention which in the long run, will help keep your body and general dental health in check.
Day 6 of my videos, documenting my teeth whitening treatment. It’s going well so far and it is getting rid of my teeth stains which has been building up over the years. I’m embedding the video below… Enjoy!
When you’re young and growing, most of what you develop as a child will have formed directly from your parents and your upbringing. At this stage in growth, it becomes vital to develop good habits because whichever habit you learn in this period of life, it becomes set in stone in your later years, and this is especially important when it comes to tooth care.
Furthermore, as a young child, you will develop the urge to eat sweets, drink fizzy drinks and maintain an unhealthy diet. As a result, the symptoms of developing teeth stains will be be very high. Therefore, it’s important to teach kids the correct habits when it comes to good dental care.
When doing so, the basics and fundamentals will need to be taught but also gone into detail as to the extent of the things you need to do to maintain good dental health. Of course, in looking at this, it becomes obvious that again, the best advice given will always be the basics and fundamentals.
So lets delve further into the steps we need to take when explaining correct fundamentals to children:
- Correct amount of toothpaste – When applying toothpaste to your tooth brush, it is essential to at least put enough that it covers your brush bristles. This will ensure that you have applied just enough to cover the entire area of your teeth when brushing.
- Spend 30 seconds per mouth area – It is important to tell the child that at least 30 seconds will need to be spent per area of your mouth in order to brush away any plaque or dirt from your teeth. This will result in 2 minutes brushing which is typically a reasonable time spent brushing, rinshing and flossing.
- Rinse thoroughly - After brushing, it is important to rinse your mouth toroughly and to take away any excess tooth paste from your mouth which by this point will have contained dirt and other excess that was brushed away from your teeth. We can take this a stage further to advise our kids to use medical mouth wash. However, the first stage will always be the rinsing of the mouth.
- Floss – This is the most commonly over looked area in dental care. many people brush their teeth, but a very few floss in between their teeth in order to get into areas which your tooth brush didn’t.
Here’s a really good article about a man who is able to pull trains with his teeth which is quite extraordinary and goes to show what your teeth can do when looked after properly
- King Tooth Pulls Train with Teeth – New World Record – King Tooth set a new world record by pulling a 7 coach train using nothing but a steel rope and his bare teeth for the heaviest weight pulled by teeth.
Today’s post will be special to mark the end of another year. I have created a new video and posted it on youtube, complete with effects and edits. It is my first attempt at a professional level video, so apologies if it looks a little cheesy. I will also include a write up of my evaluation for those of you who prefer reading. So without further ado…
As you’re all already aware, i have been testing a home whitening kit and documenting it on here just to inform you guys as to whether it works or not. Being a skeptic, i knew that the best way to prove the validity of this evaluation is to take pictures with a camera in order to track the progress made.
Teeth stain removal is an area that has become very popular in the cosmetic industry. Professional treatment will typically will cost you an average of £500. This opened doors to many home brand manufacturers to come up with their own whitening treatments which is affordable, good value for money and one that is readily available to the consumer looking to whiten their teeth and remove teeth stains.
As always, pictures speak louder than words. So if you look at the first picture below:

This was taken on Day 0 which was before i started treatment. As you can see looking at the pic that it is not white at all and has a slight yellow tint to them which is very common with most teeth that aren’t cosmetically whitened.
The next pic below is around day 2 of treatment:

Again, hardly any difference in colouring, however you can see that the shiny tint to it has improved.
This next pic is around day 7 of treatment:

As you can see looking at the pic, this is where it’s starting to improve. At this point of treatment, i couldn’t really see the results clearly, thought i was feeling what it was doing to my teeth since i was constantly getting a constant tingling sensation and sensitivity around them which would last a few hours after removing the strips.
It wasn’t until day 10 when i really started to see changes to the colouring of my teeth:

As you can see, the difference was beginning to show. My teeth started to whiten andit looked cleaner overall and much more shinier than prior to starting treatment.
Soon after taking this photograph, i decided to take my last 2 photos with a high quality camera just to capture the finer details of my teeth and it’s true whiteness which my camera phone wasn’t able to capture.
This next picture was taken on day 13 of treatment:

By this point, my teeth had whitened considerably which confirmed that the the treatment did indeed work. Putting my skepticism aside, the final pic had confirmed to me that the treatment had worked very well and yet i was still 1 day away from the end of treatment.
Here is the final result:

By teeth by this point became very white and very natural. Looking at the picture, it’s very obvious that the treatment has worked and would very much recommend anyone who is thinking about whitening their teeth, to invest in the treatment as it’s very good value for money for what it achieves.
I have included a video of this review together with footage of my teeth, to prove that the photos weren’t edited in any way.
As always guys, feel free to ask me any questions of your own. If there’s a topic you’d like me to talk about on my blog or in video form, then be sure to drop me an email. I will be making some more videos and blogs very soon. But until then, have a happy new year and see you all in 2010!
So it’s been about 2 weeks now since i last created a written post, and figured as it’s xmas eve, i would write up a fresh new entry on teeth stain removal and dental care. As you’re all aware, or for those of you who have been keeping track of my blog, i’ve recently been using a brand of ‘Crest White Strips’ for my teeth just to see if it works and to document it on my blog and to inform you all of its efficacy and benefits.
It indeed does work and have started to see improvments which started showing at around the tenth white strip. I have 3 packets left which i will hopefully complete by Friday of this week. It does remove teeth stains though i have to be honest, at times i do dread using them. Soon after treatment, my teeth became very sensitive and found it difficult to drink anything cold. This however is a temporary thing and it does go away after a couple of hours.
The one thing which i’m very interested in at the moment however is the long term benefits. Will they keep my teeth white for a long period of time? Having consulted the instruction booklet inside the box, i read that the results of treatment often lasts for around 8 months upon which you can top up your treatment with a new set of strips.
So for those of you thinking about whitening your teeth, then i very much recommend purchasing a course of treatment. Most white strips are affordable and easy to get hold of. I have included a link to a brand of strips on my page for you to invest in to give you a start on where to look to purchase them. the one place which it isn’t available is in the UK, but can easily be obtainable through various resellers online.
Lastly, is it worth it? I would say most likely so, because they are without a doubt, the easiest and simplest way to whiten your teeth to a level where you can actually see noticeable improvement. The most you get in the UK is whitening tooth paste which does very little to improving the quality and look of your teeth. Though having said this, this is very much an argument and opinion rather than actual fact. However in my experience, this seems to be the case.
I will make my final video on Friday and capture the final picture of my teeth and include them side by side from the beginning up until the present day and make a comparison. After this, i will then create another video as was requested by a few of you on my youtube page to showcase the entire pallette of my teeth as a cross examination.
Until next time, thanks for reading if you’ve gotten this far and i’ll be back with an update very soon
