In yesterday’s blog, i created a video talking about my decision to invest in a teeth whitening product. As i mentioned in the video, a friend of mine had invested in it himself about a year ago and having seen his results for myself. I have to say that it indeed does work.
It seemed to have removed one particular tooth stain which he had that was noticeable. But you’re probably wondering, why it’s taken me this long to do it myself. Well in fairness, my biggest apprehension was that it would do more harm than good to your teeth.
But it wasn’t until i looked further into it when i realised that in actual fact, it doesn’t. I will go into detail as to why it doesn’t in future posts, but for now, i will go on to talk about the brand i will be using which will hopefully whiten my teeth, and in doing so, document the process from start to finish.
The brand i will be using is ‘Crest White Strips’ which is the most popular brand available for teeth whitening in the United States. At present, they are not available to buy in the UK so had to order them from an online resellers. It works by applying the strips on both the top and bottom areas of your mouth and to let it set for about 20 minutes before removing them. This is repeated each day for around 10 days.
It is mentioned that you start to see results within the 5th day. So hopefully if all goes to plan, i will plan to show the transformation of my teeth after the fifth video.
The idea of tooth stain removal for me at this point is simple, to simply follow the procedures that is mentioned in the product and to see if it works. I can confirm based on my observations however that home whitening does indeed work. And having seen it through a friend with my own eyes, and would recommend it to anyone wishing to whiten their teeth at home.
Here is an official ‘how to’ video that illustrates exactly how the Strips work:

In today’s article, i’m going to talk about what a tooth stain is and why it’s less of an issue today than it was a decade ago. Because of the way technology has advanced and the changes made in society, more and more people are becoming involved with their health and lifestyle. So as a result, they are taking great care and attention in many areas of their bodies, from their diet, to their teeth.
Dental practices and commercial companies have become aware of this, so as a result, they have released products to cater for the ever increasing demand made by the consumers in order to maintain their general well being which includes their dental health.
One of the main issues in previous times, were teeth stains and plaque build up due to smoking, eating acidic and sugary foods and lack of good quality tooth paste and mouth wash. During this period, it became a necessity to go for a dental checkup and to have your dentist clean your teeth professionally for you.
However, over the years as more and more advanced products have become available. The consumer has now been given access to products which were previously only available to prefessionals; Electric tooth brushes, home whitening kits and prescription only dental mouth wash. We are now able to maintain and look after our teeth to the point of preventing teeth stains from occurring.
A tooth stain is now less commonly seen as it used to be, but now shows that the general consumer is more and more conscious about their health than ever before. So why the change?
Society has evolved to a point now where general healthy living is a way of life. Fewer people are relying on junk food and are now focused on healthy dieting and maintenance. So as a result, this has forced the consumer to think about the state at which their health is and to then take the necessary measures in order to build and maintain good health, be it diet, health eating and good dental care. And this is a good thing for the Dentist.
Well it’s the start of a new year and thought i kick off with a brand new post relating to electric tooth brushes. In my last visit to the dentist, i was shown a professional level electric tooth brush which can be purchased and used by the consumer, which as part of the package, included 6 brush heads and a meter for measuring how long you brush each section for, and how hard you’re brushing.
What i was then told by my dentist was that it is an ideal way for keeping check of your teeth and removing teeth stains. This was emphasized to me after my check up with him was spent cleaning and polishing my teeth. He had explained to me that after his recent visit to a dental conference, that it was discovered by many professional dentists that no matter what the dentist does to their patients to clean their teeth, it is common for the teeth to revert back to how it was before it was cleaned.
This was when he introduced me to electric tooth brushes. Before my visit to the dentist, my initial thoughts on electric tooth brushes was of that of a gimmick and that it cleaned teeth no better than manual tooth brushes. However, with recent advancements in technology, it is clear that many consumers are now starting to notice the benefits of electric tooth brushes for removing teeth stains and are now investing into them.
This is mostly evident with the features present in these brushes which were previously unavailable to the general public, just a few years ago. Previous to this, if you wanted to get a thorough clean, you would have to go and visit your dentist.
However, it is now even easier to clean your teeth just by investing your time and money on advanced teeth cleaning equipment. The most expensive electric tooth brushes cost on average, around $70 which when compared to dental visits, is affordable.
So the question is, should we invest in an electric tooth brush?
I would say, yes. The reasons are quite simple to explain. They are designed to clean your teeth as effectively and as thorough as possible, in ways which a manual tooth can’t ever clean. in addition to this, you can also purchase brush heads which are specific to the type of teeth you’re brushing. I saw one which was designed to clean teeth with braces.
So whether you’re thinking of buying an electric tooth brush, i would say to really think about its benefits versus the cost of treatment at the dentist. The advantages of using one will benefit your teeth greatly.
